David is a Certified Financial Planner™ practitioner with more than 15 years of experience in the financial services industry. David’s passion for investment services began with a love of reading, specifically books by authors like Jeremy Siegel and Benjamin Graham. The value-driven investment philosophy he holds today still mirrors most of those early lessons.
Many of David’s clients own a business and are trying to establish a succession plan, or they’re retiring from a company after working and saving diligently throughout their career. It’s a stressful stage of life, but it’s one that provides an opportunity to review long-term plans and ensure decisions are being made wisely. In this process, David takes into account retirement income, expenses and estate planning for a lasting legacy.
Whether his clients are concerned about establishing a diversified portfolio, funding a child’s education or making sure a solid estate plan is in place, David believes honesty is paramount to the relationships he forms with his clients. He strives to earn his clients’ trust over time, and is dedicated to staying sharp in an ever-changing financial landscape, actively applying his sophisticated knowledge. By completing the CFP Board’s certification process, David has taken an extra step to demonstrate his professionalism. As a CFP® professional, he has committed to meeting the board’s continuing education requirements and practicing with higher ethical standards.
Prior to founding Kapstone Financial Advisors in the beginning of 2018, David served as a financial advisor with Smith Barney for two years, and in the same role with Ameriprise Financial for nine years. David graduated from the University of Kentucky with dual degrees in finance and economics in 2006. He is a past president of Kiwanis International and a current member of the Financial Planning Association.
A native of Lebanon, David continues to live there today with his wife, Lindsey, and their two boys, Seth and Casey. David and his loved ones are nature enthusiasts who prefer to spend their free time staying active, whether hiking, camping, traveling or simply enjoying the outside world. David also participates in many different sports, including cycling, running, basketball and volleyball.
